At the Carying
Place, we are all too familiar with the hurt and disappointment
caused by financial instability and poor living conditions that
some unfortunate families endure. And, we know that the struggle
to recuperate from these struggles can sometimes be overwhelming
and difficult. That’s why The Carying Place works to help
make a difference in the lives of deserving families who may
be suffering. Thanks to our volunteers’ hard work and the
continued financial support from compassionate corporations and
individuals, we are able to provide services to each and every
family struggling to regain financial stability and independent
living.
Our mission
is to help create a new beginning to working families with children who
have ties with and desire to permanently reside in Wake County,
are
homeless, "doubled-up" or
otherwise inadequately housed, or are in jeopardy of losing their
current housing, are without the needed financial resources to
be able to acquire or maintain adequate housing, are motivated
to improve their situation and are willing to work hard at budgeting,
time management and setting and attaining goals, and recognize
that changes are needed and want help in identifying and enacting
those changes.
Each year,
we continue to teach homeless families with children necessary
life skills for attaining independent living while providing
short-term housing support services. Through financial assistance
and broad-based counseling in life skills, we seek to help people
work toward self-reliance and growth.
We initiate
a change for the better by providing Transitional Housing Programs
(THP) that give families an opportunity to stabilize their financial
situation, leading to permanent self-sustaining housing. Each
family accepted into the program is paired with a volunteer team,
which works with the family to develop a personalized plan for
self-sufficiency.
