The Carying Place netted over $62,000 at its most successful Auction
ever this year,
despite
a
slow economy, as over 210 guests bid for
one-of-a-kind items and priceless
experiences
in silent and live
auctions on April 29th at the Matthews House in downtown Cary.
Generous donors opened up their hearts and their wallets and pledged more than $9,000 during the Live Auction to help families out, without taking home a prize. Bidding was lively for fine custom-made jewelry, a golfing trip to Pinehurst, a flying and gliding experience by pilot Hal Bowman, and a three-night beach house package, among other "priceless" items offered.
Entertainment included a rendition of The Arms of the Angels by Lily Rashid, niece of our office manager Sameena Rashid, and the presentation of the Keeper of the Caring Heart award for Barbara Shannon. The money raised will go a long way toward supporting our families while they do the life-changing work during the program, at a cost of about $1,400 per month per family.
Thank you to the Auction Committee whose tireless work for months in advance made this wonderful event possible. Thank you also to all of our supporters, volunteers and staff. We look forward to seeing you at the 2012 Annual Auction!
