NEWS - The Carying Place Adds Two Board Members
June 22, 2011 - The Carying Place, a non-profit transitional housing and life-skills training program for homeless working families with children, announces the addition of two additional board members, Christopher Pelnik and Jerry S. Harris, both of Cary.
Mr. Pelnik is the owner-agent of Pelnik Insurance, a general independent insurance agency located in Cary. He previously served on the advisory board of Erie Insurance Group, and holds a B.S. in Marketing Management from Siena College. He has owned and operated Pelnik insurance since 1994. He intends to lend his experience in marketing, management and fund-raising.
Mr. Harris is retired from IBM, where he was a Senior Engineer Manager for hardware development. He is a Life Senior Member of IEEE and after studies in accounting, has been an active tax preparer since 1993. He has previously served The Carying Place as a Board Member including service as Treasurer. He has been a Support Partner with his wife Jean and a Selection Team Member. He has served on the Board of the Baptist State Convention, on the Executive Committee, as Business Services Committee Chair, and on the Council of Deacons for Greenwood Forest Baptist Church in Cary. He intends to leverage his experience for continuous improvements in program operation and financial growth.
