Giving Tuesday

What comes to mind when you think of someone being homeless? Is it the teacher at the middle school, a local fireman, the Amazon driver, the cashier at the grocery store, or the Uber driver delivering your food? Are you surprised? The Carying Place serves working, homeless families with children right here in the Triangle!

The need is great. Wake County’s homeless population has nearly doubled since 2020. Sadly, more than 6,500 children will experience living in a shelter, hotel, car, couch surfing, or another form of homelessness this year. TCP offers 16 weeks of transitional housing, plus intensive case management, financial literacy education, life skills coaching, and career support—all designed to empower families to build savings, increase income, and secure long-term stability.

On this Global Day of Giving, YOU can make a difference in the life of a hard-working homeless family. There are many ways you can have an impact!

Gift for Good

Our holiday Gift for Good initiative lets you make a truly meaningful gift—one that changes lives. It’s also the perfect way to honor that special person who already has everything.

With a digital donation made in honor or memory of someone dear this holiday season, The Carying Place will send a personalized email or card to notify your honoree or their loved ones of your thoughtful gesture. Each Gift for Good contribution celebrates generosity while helping a family move closer to lasting self-sufficiency.

This holiday season, your gift becomes more than a present—it becomes hope, stability, and a new beginning for families striving for a brighter future.

Donate. Here’s what your financial contribution can do:

  • $15,100 provides one family with 16 weeks of housing, life skills, financial literacy and workforce development.
  • $5,000 funds repairs and maintenance for one property
  • $2,500 covers utilities for three families in our program’s transitional housing
  • $1,000 provides family services and housing for one week
  • $500 funds our Children & Teens program each week.
  • $250 provides credit reports for families working to eliminate debt
  • $100 pays for one month of life skills and financial management lessons for a homeless working parent.

You can do even more to combat homelessness by becoming a monthly donor! Sustained giving is the best way to help The Carying Place empower homeless families throughout the year. You can choose whatever amount is comfortable for you and make changes at any time. Your monthly gift will help keep the lights on in one of our 15 homes, provide food for hungry children, and house hard-working families on their journey to independent living. Join this special group of donors and receive monthly stories of the families in our program and other insider news! (When selecting payment, please check “Make this a monthly donation.”)

Your support matters! Every dollar helps.
