Melinda Race is the Program Manager at The Carying Place, having been added to the team after 5 years of being a volunteer as a support partner on Thursday nights. Melinda worked as a quality control specialist and trainer at a large investment firm. It was during her training activities with other associates at the firm that she found a calling to help others. She enrolled in NC State while working, then quit to pursue her passion and her Social Work degree full time. While there she learned a great deal about the many societal, financial, and circumstantial issues facing so many of the families in America today. Having graduated, she worked as a grant writer and social work coordinator at Legal Aid, an organization that provides no-cost legal services to people in poverty. She then joined The Carying Place team in January of 2020 because she was energized by the opportunity to help families in Cary, and because she knew it was an excellent organization through her volunteer work there. She finds much fulfillment in helping the families that are part of The Carying Place programs and has found that her investment, training, and social work experience has combined nicely to put her in a position to help struggling families. She is very excited to assist The Carying Place in strengthening our community.
