Caring Sponsors

Caring Sponsors

Individuals who provide ongoing personal and emotional support to a family. Caring sponsors are in contact with the family once a week by phone, visit, or some special activity.  Children of Caring Sponsors may also be involved as playmates for children of families when the adults visit.  Caring Sponsors must complete the information session.

After Care: The second phase of TCP’s Transitional Housing program offers case management and support services via volunteer mentors. This support includes follow-up on long-term goals related to job training and placement, advocacy, help with school, doctors, daycare, and accessing services available for low-income individuals. After Care volunteers are assigned to a TCPTHP family one month before the family’s scheduled graduation. Unless they are already involved with the family as Caring Sponsor. Then, this individual will follow their family’s progress at least once a month for a year. Therefore, this volunteer is called a “Graduate Mentor”.
