  • Development Director

    The Carying Place
    Located in: Cary, NC

    Ask yourself:

Are you passionate about helping homeless families and children live independently? Do you have the heart to ensure those living in the local community break cycles of homelessness by learning life/budgeting skills while in temporary housing?

Do you excel in a collaborative team driven by impact and supporting each other like family? Are you excited about the opportunity to create your development shop and put your stamp on an organization’s fundraising plan and strategy?

Are you the first ever Development Director of The Carying Place?

    Why?

The Carying Place serves working homeless families with children by teaching life skills for attaining independent living while providing short-term housing and support services to address their individual needs. As a non-profit transitional housing program in Wake County, The Carying Place (TCP) supports families in their journey to independence and self-sufficiency. This is achieved through the mentoring and guidance of Support Partners and staff. Families are paired with a volunteer team of Support Partners that provides weekly guidance in managing personal finances, setting attainable goals, seeking permanent affordable housing, and maintaining employment. Over a 16-week period, these families learn about the skills required for self-sufficiency through mandatory once-a-week meetings with Support Partners.

    Why The Carying Place?

The Carying Place (TCP) began operations in May 1993 as part of the Christian Community in Action (CCA). TCP was incorporated as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization in 1998 with its own Board of Directors. Since our inception, TCP has served over 500 families. About 80% of families who graduate from TCP are living independently. Currently, the program supports 13 families at a time. Families live in homes owned by TCP in an environment similar to permanent housing and TCP pays for all housing expenses.
