Giving Tuesday

In Wake County, 6,500 children face homelessness each year. On this Global Day of Giving, YOU can make a difference in the life of a hard-working homeless family.

Family Stories

“What a blessing you all have been to me and my son. TCP has been my safe place, a place I have called home, a place that welcomed my son and me with open arms. I will always be grateful for what you have done for us.”

-Kelly, a TCP graduate.

What comes to mind when you think of someone being homeless? Is it the teacher at the middle school, a local fireman, the Amazon driver, the cashier at the grocery store, or the Uber driver delivering your food? Are you surprised? The Carying Place serves working, homeless families with children right here in the Triangle!

TCP provides 16 weeks of transitional housing and up to 16 months of life skills, financial literacy, workforce development, and homeownership preparation for families in our community.

On this Global Day of Giving, YOU can make a difference in the life of a hard-working homeless family. Here are ways you can help:

Donate

Here’s what your financial contribution can do:

  • $15,000 provides ONE family with 16 weeks of housing, life skills, financial literacy, and workforce development.
  • $5,000 funds repairs and maintenance for one property.
  • $2,500 covers utilities for three families in our program’s transitional housing.
  • $1,000 provides family services and housing for one week.
  • $500 funds our children and teen program each week.
  • $250 pays for credit reports to help families eliminate debt. $100 fills a gas tank so a parent can go to work.

Be A Monthly Giver

You can do even more to combat homelessness by becoming a monthly donor! Sustained giving is the best way to help The Carying Place empower homeless families throughout the year. You can choose whatever amount is comfortable for you and make changes anytime. Your monthly gift will help keep the lights on in one of our 13 homes, provide food for hungry children, and house hard-working families on their journey to independent living. Our monthly donors are a special group who receive family stories each month and special invitations to TCP events, like program nights and tours of our properties.

When selecting payment, please check the box “Make this a monthly donation”

Family Stories

“I was homeless and unable to get an apartment due to a 348-credit score. Even though I worked full-time, I was going in circles and didn’t see any way out of the rut I was in. Creating a weekly budget, watching my spending habits, accounting for money spent, and not having to pay rent, utilities, or other cost of living expenses made it possible for me to pay off several debts, and my credit score soared.”

– Mary, a TCP graduate
